I am planning on going to a portfolio day at an art school and I was wondering if I should bring works that clearly show my creative style, even though they are similar, or should I bring works that are done in different media and styles to show a wide range of ability?

Unless you are limited to a certain number of works, bring both kinds, but mix them up so that all the similar ones are not together. If you are limited to a certain number of works, bring no more than 25% which are similar.
Get a liberal arts degree, work for McDonalds. And not in management.
show progress in at least a couple of disciplines (painting, drawing, digital media). Anything you might have done ‘for hire’ or that was published (suppose you designed the HS Holiday card and won the contest: this is good) Also include any work that was in a county or state art show. (the local HS parents night exhibition does not count)
You want to show talent, and a degree of proficiency.
